Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been gearing up during spring training amid the frenzy of incoming and outgoings of student-athletes in Boulder.
Most recently, young fans mobbed the $4.6 million NIL-valued Sanders (as per On3) during the CU Football Youth Camp, which is held to promote the physical well-being of kids in the area by training with the Buffs team.
In a clip posted by his father, Colorado coach Deion Sanders, on Instagram, the quarterback can be seen greeting young fans and rapping along with them as they interacted during the session. Here's the video:
Shedeur Sanders gets criticism for comparison with legends
Shedeur Sanders is the student-athlete with the highest NIL valuation in college sports, with $4.6 million, surpassing the former undisputed No. 1, LeBron James' eldest son, Bronny James.
He's also one of the most productive quarterbacks and despite being the most sacked QB in the FBS (52 sacks), he also threw for 3,230 yards on 69.2% completion, resulting in 27 touchdowns last season.
Despite the end product, according to DraftKings, the Colorado quarterback is the No. 2 favorite to be picked No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft despite starting spring practice as the clear No. 1.
Shedeur Sanders compared himself with quarterback greats Michael Vick and Tom Brady when asked about his style of play. Not everyone agreed with the comparison, though.
On "The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty,’ former NFL star Matt McChesney was critical of the comparison the Buffs quarterback made of himself.
“That’s a ridiculous comparison you’re getting. Come on, Tom Brady was picked 199, no offense [but] you don’t want to be compared to Tom Brady coming out of the draft you want to be compared to Tom Brady after you get into the NFL,” McChesney said.
McChesney was not all doom and gloom on Sander's caliber as a quarterback, though, praising his overall talent.
“If you want to say he’s a combo someone with how long he is maybe its R Cunningham," McChesney said.
“Shedeur is kind of like one of one and he’s he’s kind of something like I’ve never really seen before. … he’s the son of a legend. Most legends’ sons are not great players, and he’s obviously thrown that away he’s a f*cking animal of a player.”
Shedeur Sanders has been accorded additional protection by his father who recruited an experienced O-line to protect his son as he attempts to improve Colorado's fortunes, contend for the Heisman and the No. 1 draft pick.
