Kalen DeBoer says Alabama has to move on
The loss to Vanderbilt is painful, especially for a team coming off a heroic win against Georgia. However, Kalen DeBoer made it known in his media availability on Monday that the team and fans need to get over the setback and focus on what's coming in the 2024 season.
“We, as a staff and them together, have to move on. We've done that after yesterday, understanding where we got to get better. We know we're a work in progress, not a finished product, by any means and that showed up on Saturday.
“But the key is that we continue to improve, and that's one of our core values is to have a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement. Guys showed that they want to do that, sticking together and owning it in every way.”
It was Vanderbilt's first win in 60 games against an AP Poll top 5 team, showcasing the magnitude of the upset. The Commodores had not rẹecorded a win over the Crimson Tide in four decades.
Kalen DeBoer takes the blame for the below-standard performance
DeBoer accepted his fault in Alabama's loss to Vanderbilt while speaking to the media on Monday. The result is way below the expectations from the Crimson Tide and the coach is aware of that.
“I had my part in there, too, where we understood what happened and that it’s not up to our standard and how we had to proceed forward,” DeBoer said.
“And so yeah, we were all extremely frustrated. But we aren’t gonna sit and lose our cool because I don’t think that’s the right way to go about it. There’s a time and place for everything."
Alabama welcomes South Carolina to Tuscaloosa in Week 7 as they hope to bounce back. The Gamecocks are also coming off a loss to Ole Miss in Week 6 and the Crimson Tide will aim to get the better of them.
