Arkansas Razorbacks defensive coordinator Travis Williams was thrilled when the school landed four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace. Wallace is the third-ranked linebacker in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Wallace was heavily recruited, as he had offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and South Carolina, among others.
However, on Tuesday, Wallace made his commitment to Arkansas, and Razorbacks DC Travis Williams was over the moon with the program landing Wallace.
In the video, Williams was yelling, "We got 'em, baby," and was running around his office in celebration.
At high school, Wallace recorded 58 tackles as a junior, but in his sophomore season, he recorded 75 tackles.
Arkansas coach facing pressure going into 2024
The Arkansas Razorbacks enter the 2024 season coming off a disappointing 4-8 season as they went 2-8 to end the year.
However, the school elected to keep Sam Pittman as head coach for the 2024 season, and athletic director Hunter Yurachek explained why in a statement.
"Our team was extremely excited last night after the game when I informed them that Coach Pittman is our head coach and will be moving forward into the 2024 season," Yurachek said in a statement, via Yahoo.
"This has not been the season any of us anticipated. We have work to do. I am confident that together, we can meet the goals and expectations of our program. I want to thank the many Razorback fans who have supported our team this season."
Entering 2024, coach Sam Pittman is on the hot seat, and On3 believes the pressure on the coach and the program is extremely high. Pittman is 23-25 as the Razorbacks coach and has just two winning seasons in his four years.
The Razorbacks will open their 2024 college football season at home on a Thursday night on Aug. 29 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. According to Pittman, he played a role in the decision to move the game to Thursday.
"You gain two days on your next opponent. I believe that was the best decision and really the only decision we could make other than saying; we’re going to go over there and play at night on our first game," Pittman said, via On3. "That just didn’t give us any type of advantage at all. And I believe that will get people to come out and see us on the Thursday night over there."
Arkansas will have notable games against Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas and Ole Miss in the Southeastern Conference.
