Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka "Coach Prime," has been engaging in some of his favorite hobbies, including fishing, after leading the Buffaloes to a nine-win season, which included bowl-eligibility for the first time in eight years. On Friday, the Buffs coach headed to Orlando to support six Colorado players who were taking part in the annual Hula Bowl.

The Hula Bowl is a yearly all-star postseason game that will be played at the FBC Mortgage Stadium. The six Colorado Buffaloes players attending the bowl game include Chidozie Nwankwo, Shane Cokes, BJ Green II, Justin Mayers, Mark Vassett and LaVonta Bentley.

On Friday evening, the charismatic Buffs coach captured the crowd's attention with his speech on opportunities.

"You're misconstruing d an opportunity and a chance," Sanders said (2:20). "See a chance is something somebody gives you when they really don't trust you because they gave you that chance and they still gotta look over your back and check on you because they don't really trust you.
"But an opportunity I could give you and walk away because I know what I gave you, you're gonna treasure."

Coach Prime geared up to intervene in sons' draft choices

The Colorado Buffaloes' 36-14 blowout loss to the BYU Cougars was the last college football game Coach Prime got to coach his NFL-bound sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, in. During Thursday's segment of the "Tamron Hall Show," the Colorado coach reiterated his stance that he would intervene in Shedeur's draft choices, something he has repeated several times in the past.

“It’s almost like, you’ve got a child that’s going into an occupation that you already dominated in,” Coach Prime said (8:35). “And you don’t think I’m not gonna sit there like a navigational system and tell him, ‘Take a right, right there. Take a left right there.’ … That’s what I’m called to do. That’s my son. I’m not finna let my son get down in no foolishness."

Coach Prime further elaborated on his assertion to interfere in his Shedeur's draft destination.

“It’s not like that,” Sanders said. “It’s not who I would like for him to play for. It’s a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for. So it’s not like that. But this is my profession. I know what’s behind the curtain. We ain’t got to get back there for me to understand what’s behind the curtain and what’s not prominent for my son. I’m not doing it.”

In ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock draft, Shedeur Sanders was mocked to be picked No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans. Fans will wait eagerly to see whether Coach Prime approves of that destination when the 2025 NFL draft rolls around.
