The Colorado Buffaloes and their coach, Deion Sanders, are major talking points for the upcoming 2024 season in the Big 12. They departed from the Pac-12 during the conference realignment.
The Buffs and their charismatic coach made a splash on Wednesday, arriving in style for the 2024 Big 12 Media Days. The coach posted a clip on Instagram of himself and his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, arriving for the event in a sleek private jet carrying a Louis Vuitton bag.
"Arrived in Vegas #CoachPrime @cubuffsfootball 9posted by @deionsandersjr)," Sanders wrote.
Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire was one of the coaches who spoke fondly of Deion Sanders during the first day of the Big 12 Media Days, showing the esteem with which the coach is held by his colleagues.
“I love Deion,” said McGuire. “I coached Bucky, his oldest son, in high school and he’s honestly the best dad of a player I’ve ever had.”
Deion Sanders receives praise from rival coach at Big 12 Media Days
The hype that comes with Deion Sanders everywhere he goes will be a big boost to the Big 12 after the loss of elite sides, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns, to the SEC (Southeastern Conference).
During Day 2 of the Big 12 Media Days, Utah Utes coach Kyle Whittingham was full of praise for the rejuvenation job that Deion Sanders has performed in Colorado and praised the coach's sons as well.
"Coach Sanders has done a great job of infusing excitement and talent into that program," Whittingham said. "His own sons are terrific players. I know we didn't get to see Shedeur, but from watching the tape, he's a terrific talent. Essentially, Sanders has put Colorado football back on the map.
"They started off very strong last year before injuries caught up to them, and it didn't end the way they wanted. But he's definitely rejuvenated things in Boulder.
"We have to go to Boulder this year; it's a tough place to play. Last time we were in Boulder, there weren't many people in the stands. Now, it's full every week, so that'll be an environment that we haven't experienced," he added.
Last season, Utah defeated Colorado in the Pac-12 at a time when the Buffs were in disarray and missing quarterback Shedeur Sanders due to an injury.
The Utah Utes will face off against the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders at Folsom Field on November 16, which could prove to be a crucial game for both teams at that time of the season.
