Shilo Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes safety and son of Deion Sanders, returned to practice this week. Shilo hasn't played since Sept. 7 when he got hurt in Week 2 against Nebraska. While Colorado is on its bye week, Shilo returned to the practice field.
It must be great news for the Buffaloes' secondary to get Shilo Sanders back practicing as he looks to finally return to the lineup after missing three straight games.
This season, Sanders has recorded 11 tackles as he's in his sixth year of college football. He previously spent two years at South Carolina, two years at Jackson State and is now in his second year at Colorado.
What happened to Shilo Sanders?
Shilo Sanders suffered a forearm injury during Colorado's loss to Nebraska in Week 2.
Sanders had surgery to repair his right forearm, and it was expected that he would miss two to three weeks.
"I've never seen nothing like it, the healing ability," Deion Sanders said about his son, via ESPN.
Shilo Sanders went to the locker room after tackling Nebraska running back Dante Dowdell on a run play.
The hope was for Shilo to return to the lineup against UCF in Week 5. Deion Sanders said holding him out to give him two extra weeks with the bye week was more likely, which appears to be the case.
"Shilo is on pace to be back," Deion Sanders said, via Coloradoan. "I'm not going to count out this week (vs. UCF). I'm not going to count that out but if he holds off this week, that'll give him two more weeks which is pretty smart."
"Shilo is a fighter," Deion Sanders added (via GloryColorado). "He’s been working hard to get back, but we’ll have to see how he feels later in the week. If he’s not ready, we’ll give him another week to recover fully."
Sanders will return to his starting safety spot when he returns to the lineup, likely in Week 7 against Kansas State.
Colorado is currently off to a 4-1 start and coming off an upset 48-21 win over UCF on the road. The Buffaloes are +1300 to win the Big 12 which implies a 7.1% chance of winning the conference, while Colorado is given odds of +1000 of reaching the College Football playoffs, which implies a 9.1% chance.
