The No. 3 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions took on the No. 4 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday. This was a very important game for the Nittany Lions, as a win in this game would keep their undefeated season alive.

But, the undefeated season is now over, as the Buckeyes defeated the Nittany Lions, 20-13.

After the game, fans were seen calling for coach James Franklin to be fired as the coach of Penn State.

Franklin has been in charge of the Nittany Lions since the 2014 season and has been able to have some success with the program. The highlight of his tenure so far came in 2016, when he led the team to a Big Ten Championship.

However, this did not end in a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

The story throughout most of his tenure has been that the Nittany Lions have generally been the third-best team in the now discontinued East Division of the Big Ten Conference.

This is the division that contained the powerhouses of the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

This did mean that getting to the Big Ten Championship game was difficult for the Nittany Lions, making the 2016 Championship that much more special.

However, this season was meant to be different. Penn State is strong this year and was one of the favorites to make the Championship game.

But, with another loss to the Buckeyes, giving them an eight-game winning streak against the Nittany Lions, the Lions' journey to this game may be harder, and the fans are not happy about this blown opportunity.

James Franklin gets into a verbal altercation with a Penn State fan

After the game, as well as fans chanting they they wanted James Franklin fired, the Penn State coach got into a verbal altercation with a angry fan of the Nittany Lions.

In a video posted on social media, Franklin can be seen responding to a fan heckling him by saying:

"If you’re gonna be man enough to talk, what’s your name?”

This is another incident involving the Nittany Lions fans stating their frustration toward their head coach.

Not only does this defeat continue his poor record against the Buckeyes (Franklin has only been able to defeat Ohio State once), but the defeat puts an end to the program's undefeated season.

These reasons make it more than understandable that Nittany Lions fans are frustrated with James Franklin, and want him gone.
