Former Clemson Tiger DJ Uiagalelei shared a touching moment with Tigers QB Cade Klubnik after Clemson’s dominant 29-13 victory over Florida State in Week 6. The No. 15 Tigers improved to 4-1, while FSU fell to 1-5, with Uiagalelei sidelined due to a hand injury.
Despite being out, Uiagalelei showed his love for his former team, catching up with Klubnik and other Clemson players and staff post-game.
Uiagalelei, his right arm bandaged after hand surgery, was warmly greeted by Tigers WR Adam Randall, who hugged him from behind in a genuine display of sportsmanship.
After playing for the Clemson Tigers from 2020 to 2022, Uiagalelei stepped into the starting quarterback role in 2021, following Trevor Lawrence’s departure to the NFL. However, during the 2022 ACC Championship Game, he was benched in favor of Klubnik. In December 2022, Uiagalelei decided to enter the transfer portal, looking for a fresh start.
According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Uiagalelei is expected to miss the rest of the season following his surgery. His first year with FSU has been tough, with 1,065 passing yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions in five games.
Struggling with accuracy, he's completed just 53.8% of his throws and is hoping to bounce back stronger next season.

DJ Uiagalelei’s chance for a medical hardship waiver seems slim
DJ Uiagalelei, once a highly touted five-star recruit, could technically appeal for an NCAA medical hardship waiver to return next season. However, he's already played more than 30% of the season, which makes that unlikely, according to SI. Uiagalelei broke his throwing hand in the fourth quarter during the Seminoles' loss to SMU.
After transferring from Oregon State, both Uiagalelei and Florida State had high hopes. But in five games, he has struggled, becoming a key factor in the team’s rough start. Now, Brock Glenn steps in at quarterback. This will be his third career start and first of the season.
Florida State coach Mike Norvell has confirmed Uiagalelei will be sidelined for the next couple of weeks, leaving Glenn with the task of reviving the offense. If Glenn can't spark a turnaround, the Seminoles could be in even more trouble.
For the next big clash, Florida State takes on Duke at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC, on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:00 p.m.
