The Ole Miss Rebels, under coach Lane Kiffin, are facing a crucial week as they travel to Baton Rouge to face off against coach Brian Kelly's LSU Tigers in week 7 of college football action. The game is pivotal for both teams, each with one loss and ambitions of making the conference championship game and the college football playoffs.

Away from the gridiron, the Delta Gamma sorority won the first-place trophy for their realistic portrayal of the Ole Miss coach and his dog, Juice Kiffin, during the 2024 CASA Encore held in Oxford.

The event is an annual fundraiser that pits sororities against each other, with the money raised donated to the Court Appointed Special Advocate program for children.

How Lane Kiffin and his family got Juice

Lane Kiffin is one of the most charismatic characters in college football for several reasons, including owning a dog with its own social media channels and a significant following.

Tom Smith, who owns the world-renowned Wildrose Kennels in Oxford, was responsible for Juice Kiffin finding a home with the Ole Miss Rebels coach's family. During an interview with the "Rebel Walk," Smith revealed how the Kiffin family came to own Juice.

“Somebody backed out at the last minute, and that’s the only reason I had a puppy available. Lee Payne called me and said, ‘Hey, I just gave Lane Kiffin your phone number. He’s getting ready to call you.’ I was like, okay. Coach Kiffin came out that afternoon and met Juice, and he (Coach Kiffin) said, ‘I’ll call you tonight and let you know.'
"So, that night, he called and asked, ‘Can we come get him at eight o’clock in the morning?’”

Juice Kiffin has become the face of the Ole Miss Rebels football team and the team's biggest recruitment camp is named 'Juice Fest.' The Kiffin family even started an Instagram account documenting Juice's best moments.

Tom Smith further revealed how he taught Juice to fetch the football tee during games.

“I kind of had it in the back of my mind when I first started training him,” Tom said. “I got a tee from (equipment manager) Ken (Crain), and I had Juice picking up the tee at about eight months old. We just made a game out of it. It was more just getting him out on the field, doing it in the actual stadium, and practicing because Juice has a huge retrieve drive.”

Ole Miss fans have adopted Juice as their unofficial mascot and with his antics during games and being featured prominently alongside Lane Kiffin, he has become perhaps the most recognizable pet in college sports.
