The Nebraska Cornhuskers went all out during their big recruiting weekend to welcome five-star prospect David Sanders Jr. The offensive tackle had visited the Cornhuskers in May and is looking at them as a top potential school for his commitment.
In a video shared on social media, hundreds of Nebraska fans showed up to extend their support for David Sanders' visit. The fans started chanting on the streets as coach Matt Rhule and several Cornhusker players greeted the Charlotte, North Carolina, native outside the new Tom Osborne complex.
Freshman quarterback Dylan Railoa could not meet up with David Sanders during his official visit in May. However, this time, he went out guns blazing to stay by his side during the trip and show that Nebraska is seriously considering Sanders' commitment. Raiola even picked up the 6-foot-6, 290-pound OT from the airport, snapped a photo with him and shared it on social media.
David Sanders Jr. gets candid about his Nebraska visit
During his visit, the prospect from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, opened up about how he believes coach Matt Rhule's team deserves another chance at enticing him for his commitment. Sanders also said he was finally excited to spend time with Dylan Raiola.
"Obviously everybody knows I took an official visit to Nebraska during the spring. They have done such a great job of recruiting me since then," Sanders said. "I just think they deserved another shot at me to come out and spend some more time with them and connect.
"Dylan wasn't there last time. He was at his sister's graduation. So just getting to spend some time with him. He met me at the airport, and we got to talk all the way on the ride to Lincoln."
David Sanders said his top four programs are Ohio State, Tennessee, Nebraska and Georgia. It will be interesting to see where he finalizes his commitment in the coming days, as his announcement date is set for Aug. 17.
