The benches cleared themselves out in the final seconds of the Michigan State vs. Michigan game at Ann Arbor tonight. In the latest viral video, Wolverines and the Spartans engaged in a heated brawl on the field. The incident happened right after the final whistle.

When Michigan's quarterback, Davis Warren, took a knee in the victory formation with a score of 24-17 in favor of the Wolverines, a fight broke out at the line of scrimmage among players of both schools.

It wasn't clear who started the fight, but Michigan players on the sidelines quickly joined in. It became a sea of Wolverines. Eventually, the Michigan State players also entered the field.

The clash between these two in-state rivals has usually led to incidents like this, and both schools expect brawls during their yearly encounter.

Michigan coach Sherrone Moore had this to say about the incident:

"Yeah, definitely. It was, you know, I told the team it was unacceptable regardless of what happened and how it started. There were guys chirping at us. Us responding. We got headbutted at Colston at the end.
"You know, our job is to represent this university. It's not to respond to that. It's to help the refs handle that. So, something that we'll handle internally. Make sure we take care of. But that's not Michigan football. That's not who we are."

2022 Michigan vs. Michigan State brawl

As incidents between the Wolverines and Spartans go, this was a mild one. The biggest fight in recent memory came in 2022, after a Michigan victory at the Big House.

The brawl was serious enough to warrant the involvement of the campus police and Michigan State had to suspend several players.

In the above throwback clip, several Spartans could be seen fighting a lone Wolverine after the game.

Then Michigan State coach Mel Tucker tried to clear the corridor where the incident occurred. Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller and Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren were in attendance for the game and had to involve the Ann Arbor police.

Then Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh denounced the incident in the aftermath of the game, stating that it was a 10-on-1 fight.
