Eli Drinkwitz, head coach of the University of Missouri football team, has been shaking up college football with his unconventional and humorous recruiting tactics.
After a breakthrough 2023 season where the Tigers posted an impressive 11-2 record, including victories over Tennessee and Florida, Drinkwitz has proven his doubters wrong. Before this success, the team had not surpassed six wins in any of their first three seasons under the tactician.
Capitalizing on last season's momentum, Drinkwitz is currently drawing top talents to his team. He recently caused a stir by posting a video of himself "playing" the guitar while offensive line recruit Henry Fenuku held up a WWE belt.
The post went viral and sparked comparisons to LSU coach Brian Kelly's own recruiting clips. It also drew a response from Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin. Unfazed, Drinkwitz defended his antics and stated he was "jamming out to some Creed" during the photoshoot.
Missouri has benefited from their coach's out-of-the-box recruiting methods as they have attracted some of the best players in the country. In 2022, they got the nation's top ranked wide receiver, Luther Burden III, and in December, they signed consensus five-star prospect Williams Nwaneri.
Mizzou's Eli Drinkwitz bolsters 2025 class with commitment from Henry Fenuku
Coach Drinkwitz secured a key commitment on Monday afternoon from three-star offensive lineman Henry Fenuku. The Texas native's decision added to Missouri's growing list of commitments for the Class of 2025, bringing the total to eight.
Fenuku, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 295 pounds, is ranked as No. 47 overall in Texas. As a junior in North Crowley High School, he mainly played left guard. His great performance was key to his team achieving an impressive 14-1 season and winning the Texas 6A D-I football state semifinal in 2023.
He chose Missouri over offers from several prestigious programs, including Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Florida State. His commitment highlighted Coach Drinkwitz's effective recruiting strategy.
With Fenuku's pledge, the Tigers now have two offensive linemen in their 2025 class. The other is four-star recruit Jack Lange, a Eureka native and the top recruit in Missouri.
Their current list of 2025 commitments include:
- Three-star offensive lineman Henry Fenuku
- Four-star offensive lineman Jack Lange
- Four-star linebacker Dante McClellan
- Four-star defensive tackle Jason Dowell
- Four-star quarterback Matt Zollers
- Three-star defensive end Daeden Hopkins
- Three-star defensive end Joshua Lewis
- Three-star linebacker Jason King
