Nick Saban has all the time in the world after hanging his shoes as Alabama Crimson Tide coach. Announcing his retirement in January, Saban's life has been nothing short of interesting. He's letting his fun and candid side take the front seat for now after 17 years of a strict narrative built on the Crimson Tide sidelines.
Saban was featured in a Vrbo commercial, promoting the company's rental vacation homes business, but with a twist. In the reel posted by ESPN's College GameDay Instagram account, the seven-time national championship winner lists down the rules when you share a vacation home with him.
Have a look at the rules:
#1. Share food with Nick
#2. Don't waste Nick's water
#3. Move your car
Nick Saban's first Vrbo commercial
The days of Nick Saban ruling the college football landscape are over—he's now running vacation rentals, thanks to his latest collaboration with Vrbo. Last month, he starred in a hilarious ad, portraying a grumpy host with strict rules for his guests.
In the 60-second spot, Saban welcomes a family to their rental but treats them like his players, barking orders and setting strict guidelines. His camera appearance resonated with his no-nonsense attitude that fans have been used to seeing over the past 17 years in Tuscaloosa.
In the video, Saban has some absurd restrictions for a vacation home—showers no longer than five minutes, no fun or games, and even a two-flush maximum per bathroom visit. At one point, he even kicks the kids out of the house, asking:
“How’d you two get inside?”
Nick is known for his hard-nosed style. However, behind the scenes, Saban’s heart wasn't as cold as his character's. Kevin Tenglin, a Vrbo executive, revealed that Saban struggled with being mean to the kids on set, often checking in to make sure they knew it was all for laughs.
