The main beneficiaries of former Alabama coach Nick Saban retiring are his family, who have gotten to spend more time with him. His daughter Kristen Saban has repeatedly shared snippets on Instagram of her children playing with their grandfather.

She has two children, James Saban and Amelie Elizabeth, with her husband, Adam Zetas.

Most recently, the sports-passionate Kristen Saban posted a clip on Instagram of the retired coach playing baseball with his grandson in the backyard.

Nick Saban retirement relaxes his entire family

Former Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban had an intensive and extensive football coaching career, and as a result, he was not always available to spend time with his wife, Miss Terry, and kids, Nicholas and Kristen Saban.

According to Kristen Saban, as the legendary coach aged, speculation about his retirement continuously cropped up and set the family on edge, as they also had no idea what he would decide to do.

After he retired, his daughter granted an interview to ESPN during which she explained the benefit of his retirement to his family.

"What's so exciting for all of us, especially him, is that he kind of has a blank slate now that he can play around with," said Kristen Saban. "He's in a relaxed state of mind that I haven't really seen him in, and it kind of puts everybody else at peace too."

Saban has since taken up playing golf every morning and spending time with his grandchildren, pastimes that were not always possible when he was one of the most successful coaches in football history.

When Nick Saban hosted the Irondale Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, the former Alabama coach revealed that one of the regrets of his career was that he couldn't always be there for his family in the way that he wanted.

"I think the number one thing that I always tried to emphasize is that I couldn't be there enough, but I wanted to make sure when I was there, I was the best version of myself," Saban said.
"There were many times when I felt like getting in the La-Z-Boy, eating some Tostitos, but I needed to go spend some time with my kids, just put them to bed, read, read a story or whatever."

The seven-time national coach still maintains an office at Bryant-Denny Stadium as he helps new Tide coach Kalen DeBoer ease into the job, but he is not nearly as busy as he was when he was in charge.
