Nick Saban and Pat McAfee are two very different characters. Saban typically comes off as stoic and reserved, while McAfee is more outgoing and out there. The duo's difference in personality couldn't be more apparent than in a clip from their most recent appearance on College Game Day.
Saban gave McAfee a huge side eye, as the former NFL kicker was seemingly turning up to a hip-hop song. The legendary head coach looked like he was re-considering all of his recent activities and how he got there in the first place.
Nick Saban joins ESPN's College GameDay as an analyst for the 2024 season
Nick Saban will be joining as an analyst on "College GameDay" this season, ESPN announced in February. Saban will also contribute to a variety of events across ESPN's platform, including but not limited to the NFL draft and SEC media days.
Speaking about his first non-Alabama major appointment since retiring from coaching in January, Saban said per ESPN,
"ESPN and College GameDay have played such a significant role in the growth of college football, and I am honored to have the opportunity to join their roster"
He continued,
"I will try my hardest to offer extra perspectives and insights to contribute to College GameDay, the main Saturday tradition for college football fans."
Saban has resumed work for 2024 and will appear alongside McAfee, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, and Rece Davis. ESPN's signing of Nick Saban is considered a coup.
What to expect from Alabama without Nick Saban in 2024
The Alabama Crimson Tide recorded an impressive 12-2 record in the 2023 college football season. The Tide had no clue that their long-term head coach would call it a career after that.
The Crimson Tide have since hired Kalen DeBoer, last year's beaten national championship finalist coach. DeBoer will be tasked with arguably the most high-pressure job in all of the American collegiate sports, not just football.
This year's iteration of the Crimson Tide still has some of last year's stars. Expect them to make another postseason push in 2024. The team's chemistry, prowess, and general roster talent are impossible to ignore, with or without Saban at the helm of the program.
