No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels coach Lane Kiffin led his team to a historic win this week against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs. The Rebels were the far better team against the Georgia offense that struggled to get anything done in a 28-10 win for Ole Miss.
After the game, Rebels fans rushed the field and eventually took down the goalposts. But in all of that commotion, there was a touching moment between Lane Kiffin and his daughter Landry.
In a video shared by Landry on social media, she is seen giving a hug to her father in celebration of the win.
This game was dominated by the Rebels. Specifically, Rebels kicker Cade Davis. He kicked five field goals in the win, giving Ole Miss a large advantage in the game. The Bulldogs were unable to respond, with quarterback Carson Beck struggling again on the road.
After the game, Kiffin said he was pleased about his team's recent performances after a disappointing loss to rivals LSU on Oct. 12.
"We’ve really played well over the past two games. We dominated Arkansas and a three-score win over Georgia. I’m really proud of how our team is responding.”
This win for the Rebels has massive repercussions on the College Football Playoffs. Coming into this week, the Bulldogs were No. 3 in the CFP rankings with the Rebels coming in at No. 16.
Both Georgia and Ole Miss have two losses after this game, creating more chaos at the top of the SEC standings. There are eight teams with either one or two conference losses after Saturday's results. The Bulldogs will meet Tennessee in Week 12 in another massive contest when it comes to the SEC title game and College Football Playoff.
Kiffin says that his father would approve of the win
Landry was not the only family member Kiffin was thinking about after Ole Miss defeated Georgia. His father, who had passed away earlier this year, also came to mind.
Kiffin spoke about his team's performance after the game and how it would be one that his father would approve of.
"(The win) was really in (his) style. Great defense. Dominant defensive performance. Mushy offense and field goals. He's happy about that performance."
The defensive performance of the Rebels stood out in this game. They were able to limit the Bulldogs to only 10 points and limit Beck to only 186 yards. The Georgia quarterback had no touchdowns and threw one interception.
