Michael Clayton is one of the top prospects in the class of 2026. The Seminole High School (Florida) quarterback had a standout year in 2023 after clinching the starting role. This has significantly increased his reputation among scouts and recruiters for his cycle.

The standout quarterback has yet to commit to any college program. With a formidable arm, precise accuracy, agile mobility and unwavering poise under pressure, Clayton has garnered the attention of top college football programs, with the Miami Hurricanes leading the charge.

Ahead of the 2024 high school football season, Michael Clayton was seen in a training video with former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden. He had the two NFL players with him in the session, featuring Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver Gabe Davis.

Michael Clayton happy with his first year as a starter

Michael Clayton had a brilliant year with Seminole High School in 2023. It was his first season as a starter in 2023 and the team to an undefeated regular season. In an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated, he expressed his satisfaction with his first season as a starter.

“Overall, it was a great first year starting,” Clayton said. “We were undefeated through 11 games before losing in the playoffs. I was able to work with an amazing group of teammates and coaches, and my personal development was something that was very positive."

He is expected to keep the starting role in the Seminole team in 2024 as he enters his junior year in high school football. Without a doubt, he’s gained more experience and exposure to lead the school to significant success in the upcoming season.

Michael Clayton's recruiting race

Following his 2023 performance, Michael Clayton has attracted numerous offers from reputable college football programs. This includes Ole Miss, Michigan State, South Carolina, Missouri, Iowa, and a host of others. However, Miami currently leads the race.

"I loved the experience attending the Miami game, and feel their offense was very explosive, great tempo, and definitely was impressed overall," Clayton told Sports Illustrated.
"He [Mario Cristobal] seems like a very genuine, down-to-earth coach who also had great energy when I came to visit over the summer."

With offers still coming in for the quarterback, Clayton is expected to make his commitment decision before the commencement of his senior year at high school. He is already considered a potential participant in the 2025 Elite 11 after his performance in 2023.
