Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns emerged victorious in Week 7's Red River Rivalry showdown, 34-3, against the Oklahoma Sooners. With this victory, Steve Sarkisian and his team have secured a six-game winning streak, taking another step toward the playoffs.
The winner of the Red River showdown takes home the bronze Golden Hat trophy. And after Oklahoma's triumph in this rivalry game last season, Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns managed to take the trophy back home. After the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian handed over the golden hat to his quarterback for leading the team to victory.
In the clip posted on social media, Ewers talked about the feeling of winning the rivalry game after a year. Sarkisian walks into the frame and embraces the quarterback after handing over the trophy to him. Quinn Ewers then puts on the hat while commending his team for their performance in week 7.

"It feels good to finally have it back. Couldn't be more proud of the guys, and all the hard work we put in," Ewers said.
The Texas Longhorns had no trouble establishing their authority over the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl stadium. The only time Oklahoma managed to put itself on the scoreboard was when Tyler Keltner scored a 42-yard field goal in the first quarter.
After that, it was pure domination by the Longhorns. By the end of the first half, they put up an 18-point lead against the Sooners making the chances of a comeback difficult. But this was not the end of Texas' scoring spree.
The second half of the game saw place kicker Bert Auburn score two field goals for the Longhorns. Quinn Ewers put the final nail in the coffin by scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Quinn Ewers' stats in return vs Oklahoma
After injuring himself against UTSA, Ewers missed out on the past two games while Arch Manning took charge on the field. When Sarkisian announced his return for the game against Oklahoma, there was a lot of divided opinion about who would be the better QB between Ewers and Manning.
However, Quinn Ewers did not disappoint fans with his brilliant performance in the Red River rivalry. The quarterback finished the game completing 20-of-the-29 passes he attempted with a 69% pass completion rate. He also tallied a total of 199 passing yards along with one passing and one rushing touchdown for his team.
As Texas continues its debut SEC campaign, it will face one of the biggest names in the conference next week, the Georgia Bulldogs. It will be interesting to see if Kirby Smart and his team bring an end to the Longhorns' winning streak.
