Three weeks ago, on the "Pat McAfee show," former Alabama HC Nick Saban named Vanderbilt the least difficult SEC away venue to play in. He said that despite them having a house-full stadium, it usually was packed with more away fans than Commodore fans.

He said:

"But the only place you're going to play in the SEC that's not hard to play, Vanderbilt. When you play in Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that's no disrespect to them, it's the truth."

However, Nick Saban's comments did not age well. The Vanderbilt Commodores secured a 40-35 upset over Alabama at their home stadium in Week 6. Following the victory, while coaches, players and fans rushed to celebrate on the field, the program decided to rub salt on the wounds of Saban.

The Commodores played Nick Saban's quote on the big screen after their upset victory over Alabama. It was played on a loop at the FirstBank Stadium to celebrate Vanderbilt's first victory over the Crimson Tide since 1984 and breaking a 23-game losing streak.

Vanderbilt's victory over Kalen DeBoer's Alabama comes after losing their last game to Missouri. With this victory, they have put up a 3-2 record so far, ending the Crimson Tide's four-game winning streak.

Vanderbilt finally breaks losing streak against Alabama in post-Nick Saban era

Clark Lea's team was just the better in Week 6 against the Crimson Tide. Kalen DeBoer's team failed to whip up the same magic as they did against the Georgia Bulldogs last week.

Much to the surprise of everyone, Vanderbilt put up a nine-point lead against Alabama at the end of the first half. Despite RB Jam Miller scoring two touchdowns, the Commodores had a firm grip over their offense.

Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia ended the night with 252 passing yards and two TD passes which proved to be enough to give his team the historic win.

On the other hand, Jalen Milroe and his offense failed to showcase their firepower like they did against Georgia last week. Vanderbilt's defense was quick to shut him down and limit his passing capabilities making it difficult for Milroe to create scoring chances on the field.

During his 17-season stint with the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban played the Commodores four times. He won all those games while just allowing them to score a combined 13 points in total.

It looks like DeBoer and his team will have to rework their game plan if they still want to be in the playoff contention this season.
