Arch Manning has finally been able to show the college football world what he can do in the absence of injured Quinn Ewers. He’s previously revealed that his childhood dream was to play at Texas and he’s now getting the opportunity of living his dream.
Manning told Larry Holder of the Athletic:
"It's tough because you want to be out there playing with your boys, but just realizing there's nowhere else I want to be, and it was my dream to play at Texas. I'm going to stick it out and play there eventually."
A 2016 video recently surfaced online that explains how long Arch Manning has dreamed of playing for the Longhorns. The quarterback was seen in a Texas shirt, which was new, alongside his brother Heid Manning. The 11-year-old Arch affirmatively declared his college dream:
“I want to go to Texas,” Arch said.
Peyton Manning explains why Arch Manning chose to stay at Texas
In an era where the transfer portal has become a prominent option for college football players seeking immediate playing time, Arch Manning took a different approach. In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” in September, Arch’s uncle Peyton Manning, explains the reason behind his decision.
"I'm proud of Arch. I'm proud of him. Most kids probably wouldn't have stayed in that situation. He went to Texas because he wanted to play at Texas."
"He wanted to go to college and play for (Steve) Sarkisian... most of the right reasons you should choose a college. I'm glad he's staying there. He and Quinn (Ewers) have a great relationship and I think Quinn is going to have a great year."
Peyton’s words showcased how committed Arch is to Texas and his desire to wait for his time in the program. He is expected to take the starting role next season following Ewer’s transition to the NFL.
Eli Manning discussed why Arch should remain in Texas in February
Amid the growing rumors of Arch Manning transferring out of Texas earlier this year, his other uncle Eli Manning explained why he should stay. Speaking to sports talk radio host Zach Gelb in February, Eli cited the reason behind the quarterback’s decision to commit to Texas:
“He picked Texas because that’s where he wants to be. That’s where he wants to play football. He likes Coach Sarkisian and his offense and what they’re doing.
“... Obviously, the plan was maybe Ewers would go into the NFL, but he’s there. It’s another year for Arch to mature, learn an offense, get bigger, stronger in the weight room and always be prepared to play. You never know what’s going to be happen.”
Despite his high-profile status and the temptation to transfer for more opportunities, Manning has stayed committed to Texas, opting to remain patient and focus on his development.
