In an interview with football analyst Joel Klatt on Monday, Deion Sanders shed light on the critical mistakes that haunted Colorado last year.
The Colorado Buffaloes kicked off the 2023 season with an impressive 3-0 record. It seemed like they were on track to emerge as strong contenders, but things took a sharp turn when they lost eight of their nine remaining games.

Coach Prime illuminated the intricacies behind their struggles, which included crucial missed third down conversions and defensive lapses.
"We weren't built for the moment," Sanders said. "Certain areas that we weren't built for. The moment came, 3rd and 5, we didn't get it. 1st and 10, we just need one more stop because we know dang well if the ball gets into Shedeur's hands, he's going to win it."
However, he is confident in their Big 12 championship pursuit and believes that strong quarterback protection will give them a real chance to achieve this goal.
Colorado signal caller Shedeur Sanders endured intense pressure last season where he suffered 56 sacks. This daunting statistic ranked them second-highest in college football and the top among Power Five teams.

With quarterback Shedeur and wide receiver Travis Hunter likely in their final collegiate season, Coach Prime is determined to lead them to success. In the same interview above, he said:
“I'm a leader of men, not a follower of men. I'm a father, not a baby daddy. I lead my sons, I don't follow my sons. My sons, Travis included, are getting ready to migrate to the NFL. I'm not following them to the NFL."
Coach Prime plans to stay in Colorado to leave his indelible mark on the gridiron, mirroring his offseason hints of a long-term commitment that could span more than five to ten years.
His true impact will be revealed by Colorado's performance this year, and only time will clear the vision of the Buffaloes' future.
