"We got the same blood": Travis Hunter drops a heartwarming remark on relationship with Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders

Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have been two of the most polarizing players in college football. Dating back to their time at Jackson State, the two have drawn mass attention from fans and have helped turn Colorado into one of the premier programs in college football.

Hunter and Sanders' relationship runs deeper than football, though. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders considers Travis Hunter to be like a son, bringing a brotherly connection to Shedeur and the Heisman Trophy finalist.

On Tuesday afternoon, Hunter discussed his relationship with Sanders on "The Pivot Podcast," offering a heartfelt remark regarding the duo's connection on and off the field.

"I think it's more than just being brothers, you know? I think we just, we got the same blood because our mindset is different on the field. Like, he can come yell at me and talk to me crazy, and then when he messed up a pass, he already know I'm coming back at him." (21:54).

Travis Hunter continued to discuss how his and Sanders' mindsets drive their relationship on the field.

"He knows how to fix it and I know how to fix it. I always go sit next to him on the bench when we get that little TV timeout, and I try to see through his lens what he sees... That bond and our relationship was like two dogs talking to each other.

"(We) always understand, we know how to put our products out when we're wrong, when we mess up. And I think that's the best part of our bond."

Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders up for major awards

Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders' high level of production earned the duo their respective award nominations. The two were up for some of the most prestigious awards in college football and have already taken home some hardware.

Hunter won the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and became the first player in college football history to win both the Bednarik Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Biletnikoff Award for the nation's most outstanding receiver. He also received the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award.

On Tuesday, Hunter was listed as one of four Heisman Trophy finalists and is the heavy favorite to win the award.

Last week, Shedeur Sanders took home the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and also earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors. He finished the season with 3,926 passing yards and 35 touchdowns with eight interceptions, finishing in the top 10 in passing yards, passing touchdowns and completion percentage.
