Shedeur Sanders takes subtle dig at Cormani McClain

Shedeur Sanders took a subtle dig at Cormani McClain during his press conference session following the conclusion of the 2024 spring game. The cornerback entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago after spending just one season with the program

Speaking in Boulder on Saturday, Shedeur Sanders believes the exit of Cormani McClain and a host of portal departures help the Buffaloes get rid of negative energies within the locker room. It now offers the team the chance to move on to something big in the 2024 college football season.

“I feel like we got all the negative energies out of the building, it's positive vibes now. There's no complaining. We have to go out there and play with a clear mind and win,” Shedeur Sanders said.

Cormani McClain takes swipe at former team before Shedeur Sanders comments

Cormani McClain on his way out of Colorado took a swipe at Deion Sanders and the team by insinuating they care more about the showbiz than they do about winning. He noted he didn’t want to play for clicks anymore when asked about why he entered the transfer portal.

"I'm just ready to bring the old version of me out and change the narrative of everyone's thinking on my name, be a part of a real and a great program that's going to impact me at my best ability. "I feel like I just don't want to play for the clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that's going to develop players."

For all the noise surrounding McClain, he was a five-star rated prospect and is a top-ranked cornerback in his class. And while he hasn't committed to a school yet, he is not going to be short of suitors. A number of programs are already working to acquire him on the portal.

In his freshman season in Boulder, he played in nine games for the Buffaloes, starting in four. He recorded 13 total tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups.

Can Shedeur Sanders lead Colorado to success in 2024?

Despite the struggles of Colorado in the 2023 season, Shedeur Sanders stood out as a brilliant quarterback. With a better offensive line, he might have taken the Buffaloes to a bowl game. It was widely documented that their lack of quality in the offensive line led to how their season went.

With Shedeur Sander's qualities, there is nothing to suggest he can’t lead Colorado to success in 2024 provided quality is acquired in the offensive line. He threw over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns in the 2023 season, marking a brilliant outing in his first year at Boulder.

The is already being touted by some to be a top 3 pick in next year's draft. This shows he has the quality to lead Colorado to success as they transition to the Big 12 in the upcoming season.
