Trayvis Hunter’s high school career so far
Trayvis Hunter started his high school career in the 2023 season at Collins Hill (Suwanee), where his brother, Travis Hunter, graduated. He moved to Effingham County in 2024, where he has contributed to the Rebels' postseason berth with a 6-4 record this season.
While he didn’t play as a freshman at Collins Hill, Trayvis has played nine games for Effingham County this season, marking a breakout season for him. Still only his sophomore year at high school, the wide receiver belongs to the class of 2027 if he doesn’t reclassify.
Trayvis Hunter has hauled in 19 receptions for 331 yards and five touchdowns over his last four regular season games. His standout performance was when he recorded six catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns during a 37-7 victory over Greenbrier (Evans) in October.
Travis Hunter continues to lead the Heisman race
With his performance against Texas Tech, Travis Hunter continues to lead the Heisman Trophy race. He had nine receptions for 99 yards and one touchdown against the Red Raiders. Deion Sanders made a case for him on the “Colorado Football Coaches Show” last week.
“Nobody has ever done what he’s done,” Sanders said. “Let’s just get that straight. If the award is for the best player, I think that is him. Now, this other kid is phenomenal, he’s the best running back. It’s a couple guys putting up those types of numbers, they are just not giving the other guys any love.”
Hunter has 69 receptions for 856 yards and nine touchdowns on offense this season. He's also recorded 21 tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions on the defense. He's slightly ahead of Boise State's Ashton Jeanty in the Heisman Trophy race.
