Shedeur Sanders has expressed his confidence in Colorado transfer portal activities in the wake of the departure of a host of players. The Buffaloes have seen a significant number of players enter the transfer portal this offseason.
Addressing the recent mass exodus following the spring game, the $4.6 million NIL-valued (per On3) Sanders doesn't believe it’s something to be worried about as the 2024 college football season draws closer. The quarterback feels the Buffs can get any player they want from the transfer portal.
“We’re getting who we want,” Shedeur Sanders said in the following the spring game on Saturday.
The Colorado team was built with the transfer portal last offseason, with Deion Sanders making use of the window like never before. It’s a surprise to see a good number of those players head out after just one year.
Will the transfer portal exit affect Colorado in 2024?
It is never easy when a roster loses a lot of players, as it creates extra work for the coaching staff ahead of a new season.
New recruits are sought after and they have to find a structure that accommodates everybody's strengths and weaknesses in a short period of time.
Since the portal opened, Colorado witnessed the departure of more than 20 players, which has created a level of uncertainty in the locker room. However, the good news is that the Buffaloes have also managed to secure a number of portal commitments and are working on more.
The likes of Rayyan Buell, Dayon Hayes, Payton Kirkland and Dallan Hayden are players who have committed to playing for Coach Sanders next season.
Sanders has promised that more players are on the way. The mass exodus should not affect the team much if they can manage to secure quality replacements for the departed players.
What to expect from Colorado's offense next season?
One of the reasons why Colorado's season went off the rail in 2023 was because of a very thin offensive line. It allowed 4.67 sacks per game, the second-most in the FBS. This was an issue the team promised to address and it looks like they have set off on the right path.
Recent players the Buffaloes have added to the offensive line include Khalil Benson, Tyler Johnson, Justin Mayers, Jordan Seaton, Issiah Walker Jr., and Yakiri Walker.
During the spring game on Saturday, Coach Sanders promised the fans a bowl game qualification this year after missing out in 2023.
