Deion Sanders is entering his second season as Colorado's coach in 2024. Coach Prime will certainly want an improvement from last season's 4-8 record and he has also received backing from Colorado's athletic director Rick George.
George, who has been Colorado's athletic director since 2013, has insisted that the program will move toward a more ruthless approach entering the Big 12 conference. During an appearance on the Buff Stampede Radio, George said:
"I think there's a misperception about our coach. If you know Coach Prime, you know that he's an incredible individual, he's driven and he knows what it takes to be successful. He's hired a great staff.
"Look, we’re not going to make everybody happy and that’s not our goal. Our goal is to focus on what we have in front of us. Tune out all that noise that's out there and make this program great. I think Coach Prime is going to do that."
George also said that Colorado wants to compete for a Big 12 Championship. Along with the Buffs, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah have also joined the Big 12 this year after leaving the Pac-12.
Sanders' Colorado failed to qualify for a bowl game last season. While competing for the championship appears to be a long shot for the Buffaloes, their primary aim will be to post a winning record in 2024.
Who is the starting quarterback at Deion Sanders' Colorado for the 2024 season?
Shedeur Sanders will lead the offense for Deion Sanders' Colorado in the 2024 season. The quarterback transferred to Colorado before the 2023 season after playing two years at Jackson State.
Shedeur finished last season with an impressive 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns on 298 passes. He also rushed for four touchdowns across 11 games.
Shedeur had a bright start for Colorado in 2023, leading the Buffs to a 3-0 record. However, he managed just one more win to his name in the next eight outings. The signal-caller sat out the final game of the regular season against Utah due to a back injury.
Nonetheless, Shedeur has spent time honing his skills in the offseason. He is determined to do better in 2024 and will aim to guide the Buffaloes to a bowl game in the upcoming season.
