On Sunday, Ole Miss Rebels' Jaxson Dart fired back at Oklahoma Sooners rival Billy Bowman on X (formerly Twitter). Dart had just wrapped up his second year at the annual Mannings Passing Academy camp in Thibodaux, Louisiana, running from Thursday to Sunday.
When a video of the third-year quarterback at the camp surfaced, the Sooners defensive back saw it and took the chance to troll Dart.
"pick six" Bowman wrote on X.
Dart quickly responded to Bowman’s comment:
"Yeah okay buddy we gon see."
The college football world buzzed over Dart’s response to Bowman. One fan wrote,
" Jackson Fart, you’re the weakest link on your team little boy. No one is terrified when you step back to throw."
Meanwhile, another fan had a new nickname for Dart, calling him the:
"Stand on it GOAT"
“Dart turning OU DBs into bulletin board material,” one wrote.
One fan seemed pleased that the two fan bases were getting worked up over some seemingly playful jabs.
"I love some friendly banter between two players that draws in all the fans from both fanbases to fight over nothing,” a fan tweeted.
Meanwhile, a couple of fans were straight-up brutal with their takedowns of Dart:
“Ya we gon see you fold in a big game again you ain’t built for this,” one wrote.
“Billy gon cook you, respectfully,” another wrote.
Jaxson Dart gains admiration from Eli Manning and Carson Beck
Jaxson Dart demonstrated his abilities alongside Ole Miss legends Archie and Eli Manning at the Manning Passing Academy last week. Dart left a strong impression on former Rebel QB Eli, who praised the youngster.
"I've been to games, and I'd seen him briefly, but it was the first time really getting to sit down with him, hang out with him, go on stage, and tell some stories. I enjoyed his personality," Eli Manning said [h/t Ole Miss Sports].
"I was able to take some lighthearted digs at him, and he reciprocated and did the same with me, which is fun, that's what it's all about, it kind of makes it special for the group,” Eli added. “I got to hang with him last night and eat dinner with him, he seems like a great kid and has a good head on his shoulders. I'm excited about his future."
One of Dart's main SEC competitors, Carson Beck from Georgia, also had some nice things to say about the Ole Miss QB. Beck told The Ole Miss Spirit:
"He's a really cool guy. I'm a big fan of his game…Obviously, that will be a big game for us so I'm excited for that one," Beck said. "He's very talented, big arm, very accurate. Mobile, the ability to get out of the pocket. He does a lot of things well."
Dart's Ole Miss and Beck's Georgia are scheduled to square off this season on Nov. 9. The game will be held at Ole Miss's Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
