Before the game, the sportsbooks projected that the West Virginia vs. Texas Tech matchup would be a close one, but that was not the case.
Things did remain close in the first quarter, though. Halfway through the quarter, Texas Tech opened the scoring with a field goal. West Virginia then answered back with one of its own to tie the game. However, that was the last time the Mountaineers would be tied, as the Red Raiders took the lead with another field goal near the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter is where Texas Tech won the game. They scored four straight touchdowns, including three by Tahj Brooks, to take a massive 35-3 lead into halftime.
The Red Raiders picked up where they left off in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown two minutes into the quarter. West Virginia finally replied back with two minutes left in the quarter, cutting the lead to 9-42.
The third quarter opened with a field goal from Texas Tech. The Mountaineers scored again with a touchdown halfway through the quarter. However, they did not enjoy it for long, as Texas Tech scored again with three and a half minutes left to take a 52-15 lead.
That would be the final score in the game, as Texas Tech ended the regular season with an impressive 52-15 win over West Virginia.
