"What a baby" - Fans stand divided as Cowboys rumors surface for Shedeur Sanders

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders traveled to New York to support his Buffaloes teammate Travis Hunter, the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, despite finishing No. 8 in the final Heisman rankings. Sanders sent the draft rumors into overdrive when a clip of him playing catch with New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers on the street went viral before Saturday's ceremony.

The quarterback's father, charismatic Colorado coach Deion Sanders, has previously confessed that he would be key in the NFL franchise his son ultimately plays for.

One of the teams that Shedeur has been repeatedly linked with is the Las Vegas Raiders, whose owner, Mark Davis, is reportedly keen to make Sanders his quarterback, according to ESPN draft analyst Field Yates.

On Saturday, reports by "NFL Rookie Watch" emerged that Shedeur Sanders would only play for either the Raiders or his father's old team, the Dallas Cowboys.

"Shedeur Sanders is reportedly 'prepared' to be drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders or the Dallas Cowboys in the upcoming NFL Draft. There is reportedly a 'high likelihood' Sanders would refuse to play if he was drafted by either the Giants or Browns," NFL Rookie Watch tweeted.
"Similar to how Eli Manning refused to play for the Chargers in the 2004 NFL draft. Many NFL scouts reportedly believe the Giants will end up 'settling' for Cam Ward, knowing Sanders wouldn’t play for them. The Buffaloes QB has a lot of PULL."

College football fans on X had mixed reactions to the reports.

Some fans put their spins on where they think Sanders will end up.

"I hope we do trade Dak and draft Shedeur. That would be awesome," one fan tweeted.
"Thought he and Malik were boys idk about NY I think if things change he would go," another tweeted.
"Probably Vegas," one fan tweeted.

Shedeur Sanders extensively linked to the Raiders

Two weeks ago, during an appearance on the "Gojo & Golic Show," Yahoo Sports analyst Jason Fitz definitively linked the NFL-bound Shedeur Sanders with the Las Vegas Raiders.

"In a normal world, I think both of those quarterbacks (Sanders and Cam Ward) would be mid-late first-round prospects," Fitz said. "Mark Davis is going to make Shedeur Sanders his quarterback, so that's their opportunity. (0:46)
"That's what the Raiders do. ... When you're in the same division as Bo Nix and Sean Payton and then Harbaugh and Herbert and obviously Mahomes and Andy Reid, I do think your quarterback evaluation might need to change a little bit.
"The one thing you need to focus on is who has that upside. You don't need a quarterback. You need somebody who will turn into a Mahomes beater. That's gonna take time, patience, development."

Shedeur Sanders' destination in the league will be one of the most closely monitored draft decisions during the 2025 NFL draft.
