The Missouri Tigers will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Music City Bowl on Monday, Dec. 30, in Nashville. The game can be seen on ESPN with kickoff set at 2:30 p.m. ETS.
“It’s an honor to be selected to participate in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl,” Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a statement from the athletic department, via FultonSun. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to play at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. It’s a great market for our alumni and fan base and I know we’ll have an excited crowd.
“Our team has worked extremely hard to achieve this goal, and we are looking forward to preparing and playing against a terrific Iowa squad. I’m just thankful I get to coach this special group of men for one more game this season.”
Missouri is a 2.5-point favorite against Iowa in the Music City Bowl. The Tigers and Iowa were supposed to play in the Music City Bowl after the 2020 season, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19. The Tigers last played Iowa in the Insight Bowl in 2010 with the Hawkeyes winning 27-24.
Missouri is 16-20 all-time in bowl games and beat Ohio State 14-3 last year in the Cotton Bowl.
The Tigers will be without star wide receiver Luther Burden III who announced he will be opting out of the bowl game as he declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Starting right tackle Armand Membou also announced he would be opting out of the bowl game as he declared for the draft.
However, Missouri coach Eli Drinkwintz expects most of his players to play in the Bowl Game.
"You'll see it too when very few, if any, of our seniors, opt out [of the bowl game]," Drinkwitz said, via SI. "There's something about playing for each other and playing for Missouri that's special to these guys."
Missouri enters the Bowl Game on a two-game winning streak.
