Navy Midshipmen quarterback Blake Horvath suffered an injury during the Week 12 game against the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday. The signal-caller exited in the first quarter after taking a hit and got treatment on the sidelines.
Although Horvath returned to the game, some fans were curious to learn more about his injury and whether it was a serious problem.
Blake Horvath injury update
Per reports, Blake Horvath suffered a rib injury with 6:08 remaining in the first quarter. Some reports also suggested that he was dealing with back spasms. He was listed as questionable to return. After leaving the game early, Horvath was replaced by Braxton Woodson.
Horvath took a snap and ran a designed sweep to the left, but the blocking in front of him forced the quarterback to go to the right. The Navy signal-caller was able to create some running room but was tackled by a Tulane defender.
Horvath landed hard on his right shoulder for a first down and remained on the ground, appearing in discomfort. He was seen kneeling on one knee while trying to get up and overcome the pain before exiting the game.
The Midshipmen quarterback then entered the blue injury tent. Initially, it wasn’t clear what ailment Horvath was suffering from, but it was later reported that he had sustained a rib injury.
Horvath returned in the second quarter with Tulane leading 14-0. He focused more on his rushing game, but couldn't make much of a difference, recording just 25 rushing yards on five carries and didn't complete a pass at the time of writing. The Tulane Green Wave were leading the game 21-0 with just under four minutes remaining on the clock in the third quarter, and the team appeared to be on course to win its ninth game of the season.
