With the Tide leading at the half, here's a look into a detrimental injury to their secondary.

What happened to Domani Jackson?

On a second-down play on South Carolina's second drive of the game during the first quarter, Jackson went down to the turf, clearly favoring his right leg. Alabama's training staff helped Jackson to the medical tent to undergo a quick analysis.

Minutes after going into the tent, the training staff helped Jackson onto the cart. Jackson was driven to the locker room with a towl covering his head, clearly disheartened by exiting the game. Jackson was replaced by freshman cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe.

Domani Jackson transferred to Alabama during the offseason after spending two seasons with the USC Trojans. Last season, Jackson played in 11 games for the Trojans, notching 33 total tackles with three passes defended.

This season, Jackson has recorded 18 tackles and defended three passes. He also recorded an interception in Alabama's only loss of the season versus the Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 1-1 SEC), the first of his career.

Coming out of Mater Dei high school, Domani Jackson was a five-star recruit, ranked as the No. 15 player in the nation by 247Sports. He was the No. 2 cornerback recruit in the country and the No. 1 player in California.

Jackson's replacement in the game, Jaylen Mbakwe, was also a five-star recruit, ranked as the No. 12 player in the country in the 2024 class. Mbakwe was the No. 2 cornerback recruit in the country and the No. 4 player in Alabama in his class.
