The 16th-ranked LSU Tigers saw starting right tackle Emery Jones, Jr. suffered a left leg injury early in the second quarter against the UCLA Bruins. According to reports, Emery Jones didn't look too happy as he would hobble on the sidelines towards the injury tent.
At time of writing, there was no official word regarding his status and if he would be able to return to the game.
UPDATE: Good news for the fans of the LSU Tigers as this injury did not plague Jones long, as he would return to the game to begin the second half. Protecting the ends of the offensive line is critical and having Emory Jones, Jr. back in the starting lineup will help the Tigers' offense going forward.
Where is Emery Jones projected to be selected in the 2025 NFL draft?
Emery Jones is eligible to enter the 2025 NFL draft pool as he would be three years out of high school. A lot of NFL draft prognosticators are projecting him to be a first-round selection, as he's one of the best right tackles in the nation.
He has a massive frame at 6-foot-4, 341 pounds, and the junior is looking to help the LSU Tigers make a run to the College Football Playoff this season. So far this season, he has a 76.3 pass-blocking grade and has only allowed a pair of quarterback hurries with one quarterback hit this season.
However, he needs to improve at blocking the run as he has a 51.3 run-blocking grade on the season, per Pro Football Focus. When he is in the National Football League, or even as the season progresses in college against elite programs, edge rushers are quick and Jones needs to be ready to keep the quarterback upright.
It is difficult to find an elite offensive tackle in the NFL draft right away as many need to polish their skills as they transition from the college game to the pros. Emery Jones Jr. will be a first-round pick as getting offensive line helps is always a priority. He just needs to stay healthy throughout the season and continue improving to showcase his skills.
