Whose schedule is harder?
There is generally no such thing as an easy schedule in the SEC, due to the strength of its members who make up the majority of each team's schedule. The exception to this rule is the Vanderbilt Commodores, which is usually an easy win for many of the conference members.
However, if the nonconference schedule for each time is taken into account, the Georgia Bulldogs have the tougher slate of games. For starters, the team will open its season against the Clemson Tigers. Clemson is one of the favorites to win the ACC this season and will not easily be defeated by Kirby Smart’s players.
In contrast, Alabama plays its opening two games against "Group of 5" schools. While these can still be a tricky test, they are likely to not be competitive for long. The first real test for Alabama is its game against the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison. This will give us the first proper look at what Kalen DeBoer can do with the Crimson Tide in front of a hostile and electric atmosphere.
Both of these programs should be able to win the majority of games in their schedule. Thus, both should make it into the 12-team college football playoffs. However, whether they can face off against each other for the SEC championship all depends on how well they can play against each other and the tougher opponents.
