Blake Shelton will be the celebrity guest picker for the big Oklahoma vs. Tennessee matchup on "College GameDay" on Saturday. The atmosphere in Norman is out of control with Oklahoma's return to the ESPN pregame show.
The stakes are high in the SEC in Week 4 as the No. 15 Sooners will go head-to-head against the No. 6 Volunteers at OU Memorial Stadium. Shelton as the guest picker adds an extra dose of excitement for college football fans.
Who is Blake Shelton?
Born in Ada, Oklahoma, Blake Shelton will represent his home state during ESPN’s coverage of the Sooners' first Southeastern Conference game. The 48-year-old singer and songwriter is famous for his country music hits and larger-than-life personality. He was also nominated for a Grammy.
"College GameDay" has gone up a notch this year, featuring high-profile guest pickers, including Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps and South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley. However, Shelton’s Oklahoma roots make him a perfect fit for this weekend.
When asked by host Pat McAfee about his football allegiances, Shelton joked that he roots for all Oklahoma teams.
“I don't know if it's legal to be both or not, but I always have been. I always pull for all three of the teams— Tulsa too," Shelton said. "Of course, everybody said, 'You gotta do it. I said yeah, but I don't know s--t about all these teams he's gonna ask me about.
“You guys are desperate if you need me to come on and make the picks. I'm honored, though. Trust me, I'm honored to do it.”
The action starts at 9 a.m. EST on ESPN, where fans will see if Blake Shelton’s picks hit the mark.
