The College GameDay crew is going to be at one of the biggest games in the college football season thus far as they will be filming at the Ohio Stadium. It is the venue for the No. 5-ranked Indiana Hoosiers vs. No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes game at noon eastern.
The celebrity guest picker certainly has ties to the Ohio State program. Former Buckeyes starting quarterback and current Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Justin Fields will be the guest picker this week.
The show will be airing on ESPN and ESPN+ beginning at 9 AM ET until kickoff on Saturday.
The College GameDay cast will comprise of the following on-air personalities:
- Rece Davis
- Kirk Herbstreit
- Nick Saban
- Lee Corso
- Pat McAfee
- Desmond Howard
- "Stanford" Steve Coughlin
What other former Ohio State Buckeyes have been ESPN College GameDay celebrity guest pickers?
Justin Fields is not the only former Ohio State Buckeye to pop up on College GameDay as the guest picker. The show has had a former Buckeyes player do so in each of the last two seasons.
Last season saw current Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud be the celebrity guest picker. The year before that saw former Ohio State player and current co-host on "The Pat McAfee Show" A.J. Hawk make his selection for the big game.
College GameDay matchup potential playoff implications
The game between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Ohio State Buckeyes could have significant implications for the College Football Playoff. Whichever team loses this game is likely on the outside looking in with the Big Ten Conference Championship Game as the Oregon Ducks have already clinched their spot.
Missing the conference championship game could be the difference between making the 12-team College Football Playoff and missing it entirely.
While an argument could technically be made for Indiana losing based on their record, falling 10 spots would be a massive drop for a loss if Ohio State falters here.
There is likely the scenario that unless one team gets blown out here, both have done enough to make the College Football Playoff. Yet, losing leaves it up to the committee while a win makes the program's resume look a lot stronger with a win against a top-five opponent.
