The No. 10-ranked Michigan Wolverines will face the Washington Huskies in a rematch of last year's College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Week 6.

Michigan began the year with a victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs before suffering a blowout loss to the then-No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns the following week. It bounced back by picking up three consecutive wins.

The Wolverines' winning streak began with a 10-point victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves. They followed with back-to-back three-point wins over the then-No. 11-ranked USC Trojans and Minnesota Golden Gophers to open Big Ten play.

Washington opened the season with back-to-back blowout victories over the FCS-level Weber State Wildcats and Eastern Michigan Eagles. It suffered its first loss when it faced its intrastate rival, the Washington State Cougars, in Week 3.

The Huskies bounced back in their first-ever game as a member of the Big Ten as they beat the Northwestern Wildcats. They suffered their first loss in the conference in Week 5 as they fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Michigan vs. Washington head-to-head

The Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies are set to face one another for the 15th time — and the first time as Big Ten foes. The two teams' first meeting came in 1953 with the Wolverines dominating on both sides of the ball in a 50-0 shutout. They also hold the series lead with a 9-5 all-time record against the Huskies.

Michigan beat Washington 34-13 in their last meeting, which came in last year's College Football Playoff National Championship Game. It marked Michigan's third consecutive win in the series, a streak that dates back to 2002.

The two sides have met in the Rose Bowl four times — 1978, 1981, 1992 and 1993. They have split those four meetings. The Wolverines hold the longest winning streak in the matchup, winning the first four meetings between 1953 and 1970.
