Colorado’s dynamic duo, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver Travis Hunter are back in action, leading the Buffaloes to a commanding 21-3 lead over Colorado State late in the third quarter on Saturday.
Sanders connected with Hunter for a 2-yard touchdown, showcasing the chemistry between the two stars in Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. This scoring drive was sparked by an interception from Colorado safety Preston Hodge, who picked off Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, setting the Buffaloes up at the Rams' 12-yard line.
Earlier in the game, Fowler-Nicolosi, despite trailing 14-3, hit Hunter with a “too small” gesture just before halftime. By that point, Hunter had already racked up more receiving yards than Fowler-Nicolosi’s total passing yards.
As the third quarter came to a close, Fowler-Nicolosi had completed 13 of 25 passes for 131 yards and thrown two interceptions, while Hunter posted 11 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.
CBS reporter Richie Cozzolino revealed last month that CSU’s quarterback Fowler-Nicolosi and star wideout Tory Horton turned down $600,000 transfer offers, opting to stay with the Rams despite the tempting deal.
The Buffaloes' energy and star power continue to shine, pushing them toward another statement victory.
Travis Hunter’s pregame style made waves ahead of the Colorado-Colorado State game
In the Colorado-Colorado State game, Travis Hunter sported a Lil Wayne t-shirt which quickly grabbed attention. A video shared on X shows Hunter walking through the tunnel in his graphic tee.
This isn’t his first standout fashion moment. In Week 1, he repped his cornerbacks coach with a Kevin Mathis shirt, and in Week 2, he paid homage to Warren Sapp. Hunter, who’s been buzzing as a top Heisman Trophy contender for the 2024 season, praised the electric atmosphere and passionate Husker fans after Colorado’s 28-10 win over Nebraska.
On the field, Hunter shined with 10 catches for 110 yards, including a 28-yard grab that stood out as his longest of the night.
