The 2024 SEC media days are set to begin on July 15 in Dallas, Texas. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer is set to participate in his first SEC media days as he replaced Nick Saban as Alabama's head coach.
DeBoer is looking to fill some major shoes in replacing Saban, but he has said he is embracing that.
“I can’t say I intentionally look at it where you see challenges and you want to go take it on,” DeBoer said to USA Today, “but when you’re in a spot like this, there’s an excitement of the challenge. That’s what I do enjoy."
“This program has that expectation of being championship caliber and being involved in the playoff every single year,” DeBoer said. “And so, easier said than done, especially here with a schedule like we have this year, but that’s the expectation.”
Kalen DeBoer will be the only coach from Alabama going to media days. He will bring three players to the SEC media days as Alabama will be talking on July 17.
Who is joining Kalen DeBoer at SEC Media Days?
Along with Kalen DeBoer, quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker, and defensive back Malachi Moore will be at SEC media days.
Milroe was the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback and last season, he led Alabama to the Rose Bowl. Milroe went 187-for-284 for 2,834 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Milroe is eager to work with DeBoer and have an offensive-minded head coach leading charge.
"It's a great system," Milroe said to Bussin With the Boys, via 247Sports. "All the guys on offense are happy about it. It's new and different, but it's going to allow us to be an explosive offense. We are all excited. The standard didn't change. The standard is still the standard. All we want to do is play for the name on the back of our jersey. We're doing a really good job with that."
Booker, meanwhile, is a former four-star recruit and is projected to start at left guard for the Crimson Tide in 2024.
Moore, meanwhile, is projected to start at safety and is entering his fifth season at Alabama. Moore recorded 51 tackles, four pass defenses, and one interception last season.
The Crimson Tide will open their 2024 college football season at home on August 31 against Western Kentucky.
