Coach Steve Sarkisian's Texas is set to make its debut at the SEC Media Days on Wednesday. The Longhorns officially moved from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference on July 1. Sarkisian will be joined by three players as they face the media today.

Sarkisian, who had been an offensive coordinator at Alabama alongside Nick Saban, has gained the admiration of his colleagues for his attacking know-how. Vanderbilt Commodores coach Clark Lea lauded Sarkisian's capacity to teach, bringing up their 2020 Rose Bowl union when Lea was still at Notre Dame.

"We competed here in Dallas in the Rose Bowl. It was the pandemic year, I was at Notre Dame at the time, and he was running the offense at Alabama," Clark said. "It was one of the most challenging offenses I've ever had to plan for. I have a ton of respect for him and the program he's building. It's taken time for him and he's taken time in the foundation."

This year, the SEC expanded to 16 teams which is its biggest expansion in history, and the introduction of a 12-team College Football Playoff enables more opportunities for mid-level teams. Mississippi State's Jeff Lebby and Texas A&M's Mike Elko are among the other new faces.

Joining Texas at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, Texas, for the SEC Media Days are representatives from Alabama, Florida and Mississippi State. New Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer, taking over from Nick Saban, will also speak on Wednesday.
