The Big 12 has officially changed as of Monday, July 1, as Texas and Oklahoma are no longer members of the conference. Both schools joined the Southeastern Conference.
Although the Big 12 did lose Texas and Oklahoma, commissioner Brett Yormark has done a good job bringing new schools to the conference.
Yormark first added Colorado, which is one of the top teams in college football in terms of popularity due to Deion Sanders being the head coach. Alongside the Buffaloes, the conference has added Utah, Arizona and Arizona State ahead of the 2024 college football season.

"We are thrilled to welcome Arizona, Arizona State and Utah to the Big 12," commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement, via ESPN. "The conference is gaining three premier institutions both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 looks forward to working alongside their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes and administrators."
By adding those four schools, the Big 12 now has 16 teams, which is the same as the SEC, allowing it to remain one of the powerhouses of college sports.
Brett Yormark no longer looking at expansion for Big 12
With the Big 12 introducing Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah to the conference, commissioner Brett Yormark says he's no longer looking at expansion.
However, Yormark isn't ruling out expansion in the future, but for now, he's happy with the 16 teams he has in place.
"We explore every and all opportunity to create value for our members, for our student-athletes. It's what we've been doing since I on-boarded and we'll continue to have that mindset... No, I'm not," he said (via SI). "I've said from Day 1, we are open for business. I guess you could say that we are open for business now more than ever before."
In the new Big 12, each school will have nine conference games, while all the teams will play every other year at least once at home and away. But the conference is factoring in geography, historic matchups and rivalries to determine the 2024 schedule, as well as future schedules.
The 16 teams in the Big 12 for 2024 are Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah.
