Nick Saban and the College GameDay crew made their way to Berkeley for Week 6 of the 2024 college football season. This is the first time GameDay is at the home of the California Golden Bears. They'll face the undefeated Miami Hurricanes in a thrilling ACC showdown.

Before the start of the game, Nick Saban took the opportunity to hilariously troll cast member Steve Coughlin on the College GameDay show. Coughlin did not waste time throwing shade at the Cal fans during the show.

"I am biased though when it comes to the Cal fans. Because whenever I played in that stadium, it was sold out," Coughlin said. "They do a great job. But I also wonder how many of these people are here because they didn't get into Stanford."

Nick Saban defended the Golden Bears fans after taking a dig at Coughlin.

"I got a question for you. If it was so great at Stanford, why did you have a girlfriend in Cal?" Saban asked.

Nick Saban's witty rebuttal got a roar of applause from the Cal fans attending the show. His other GameDay crew members burst out laughing.

Steve Coughlin played for the Stanford Cardinal as a TE during his college career in the 1990s. During his four-season stint, he went 4-0 against the Golden Bears. He built his career in broadcasting and is working with ESPN and SportsCenter.

Nick Saban shares his outlook on the post-retirement life

After 17 seasons as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Saban is now enjoying life at his own speed. Despite embarking on a new career in broadcasting, he is satisfied with his current life and the time he spends with his family.

On Herbstreit's 'Walk With Ben' Show last week, Saban talked about the change of pace in his life.

"You don't have a 14-hour-a-day stress of solving problems all the time," Saban said. "I don't miss that because you almost- when you're coaching and so committed to it- you don't understand what a normal human being does and how they enjoy life." (8:15 onwards)

Nick Saban's dedication with the Crimson Tide paid off. Before retiring, he led them to six national championships and made them one of the best college football programs of all time.
