Michigan Wolverines cornerback Will Johnson is dealing with an injury. His status for Michigan's Week 5 showdown against Minnesota is up in the air.

Johnson left Saturday's 27-24 win against USC and ahead of Michigan's Week 5 game against Minnesota, coach Sherrone Moore said Johnson is doing well.

"He's doing okay," Moore said, via SI. "He's good. He went in, got examined just to make sure nothing was wrong. And he came back, he could have went back in. But he's doing well."

Johnson confirmed his status on the same radio show, despite the scare. He also expects to play on Saturday at home against Minnesota.

"Yeah, I'm all good," Johnson said. "Everything has been good."

Johnson has been a star player for the Wolverines' defense this season. He has two pick-sixes his season, including in the game against USC. Johnson is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft and is a legit Heisman candidate as a cornerback.

Insider expects Will Johnson to play against Minnesota

ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel expects Will Johnson to be in the lineup on Saturday.

Michigan hosts Minnesota on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Thamel said all signs point to Johnson being in the lineup.

“The good news for Michigan? Will Johnson left the game, went to the locker room. He’s fine. He’s expected back,” Thamel said, via On3.

The big injury question for the Michigan Wolverines is star tight end Colston Loveland who didn't play against USC. Loveland is a protected first-round pick and Thamel says the tight end is questionable to play on Saturday.

“Yeah, Colston Loveland missed the USC game after injuring his shoulder the prior week. He’s still going to be questionable for Minnesota,” Thamel said. “They’re testing the range of motion in that shoulder They’ll see it’ll be closer to a game-time decision of whether he’ll be able to go on Saturday."

Michigan is a nine-point favorite to defeat Minnesota at home on Saturday. The Wolverines are 3-1 with their lone loss coming to Texas at home in Week 2. Michigan still has notable games against Illinois Oregon and Ohio State, among others. The Wolverines are +650 to make the College Football Playoffs, implying a 13.3% chance of it happening.
