Faizon Brandon gave the Tennessee Volunteers a major win on the recruiting front. He committed to Josh Heupel's program on Saturday, choosing Tennessee over powerhouse programs like Alabama, LSU and North Carolina State.

"Now for the moment, y'all have been waiting for. After taking the time and carefully evaluating each of my top four schools, I feel the best place for me to play during my college career will be The University of Tennessee," Brandon announced during a live stream on 247 Sports' YouTube channel.

However, the decision left many college football fans baffled, igniting a storm of reactions on social media. One skeptical fan wrote:

"He will be regretting that come September."
Another harshly commented, "Congrats on not having a good NFL career, son. No QB who plays for Heupel will ever be good in the NFL because of his gimmick offense."
One fan wrote, "Oh no, young man. Not a good decision."
“Bad move,” tweeted another.

Other fans predicted a short stay for Faizon at Tennessee, with one saying,

"He will transfer to NC State in a year"
Another added, "This commitment won’t stick."

Despite the mixed reactions, Faizon's commitment is a massive boost for Tennessee, setting high expectations for the Volunteers' future under Heupel's guidance.

What is special about Faizon Brandon?

Ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class by 247Sports, Faizon Brandon is turning heads for all the right reasons.

This 6-foot-3.5, 195-pound quarterback from Grimsley broke out as a sophomore, racking up 3,096 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. On the ground, he added 528 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, displaying his dual-threat capability.

Brandon's arm strength is a key asset. In Tennessee's pace-and-space offense, his ability to make cross-hash throws and place the ball precisely down the sideline is critical.

His pocket presence is another standout trait. Faizon Brandon moves with purpose, even under pressure, maintaining footwork discipline and delivering throws without flinching from hits.

Lastly, his anticipation sets him apart. In Tennessee's timing-centric offense, his ability to read defenses pre-snap and deliver the ball accurately before his receivers make their breaks is invaluable.
