Nick Saban has traded the high-pressure life of college football coaching for a more relaxed existence, and he's loving every minute of it. One perk that the 7x national championship enjoys the most is spending more quality time with his wife, Miss Terry.

Saban’s perspective has shifted after a recent traffic jam reminded him of his newfound patience. He opened up about his new outlook on ESPN’s “College Football” show with Kirk Herbstreit.

“I was sitting on a bridge the other day, and traffic was backed up," Saban said (per AL.com). "I would be the guy in the other lane and go all the way around everybody and cut in at the last minute. Everybody is cursing you for doing it.”
“I was sitting there, and people were doing that. I looked at Miss Terry, and I said, ‘Last year, that would’ve been me, but I’m happy to sit here and wait my turn.’”

The former Alabama head coach is working as an ESPN analyst after hanging his boots in January earlier this year.

Nick Saban is nicer to the media thanks to Miss Terry

The former Alabama coach has been letting his softer side known lately, and he has his wife to thank for it. In an interview on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, Saban shared how Terry's advice helped him become nicer to the media.

“She looked at me and said, ‘Would you ever watch yourself? You don’t smile, you’re disrespectful, and you don’t treat them well.’”

While Saban admitted being upset by her comments but realized she was right.

"I got really mad that she said that, but then, like a lot of times, you go think about it, and I really changed." Saban said. “That changed my whole image as I coach, and it started with changing the image of the media and the people.’”

Nick Saban and Terry got married in 1971. Her advice has clearly paid off, as Saban is now enjoying a slower pace of life, free from the stresses of chasing championships. She even accompanied Saban on ESPN's "College Football" show, which had set camp in Tuscaloosa last weekend.
