"You deserve it": Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders hypes up Son Shedeur Sanders after his eye-catching achievement

Shedeur Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback, has had a strong season. After leading CU to a four-way tie for first place in the final Big 12 standings, his work is being recognized by others.

On Thursday, Sanders was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.

One person who responded to Shedeur's win was his mother, Pilar Sanders, who is the ex-wife of Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders. On Instagram, she posted the photo announcing Shedeur as the winner with the caption:

"Congratulations son. You deserved it!"

During the 2024 season, Shedeur threw for 3,926 yards with 35 touchdowns thrown. There was only one game (the loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Week 2) where he threw for under 250 yards (244).

After a disappointing 2023 season, when the Buffaloes went 4-8 and struggled against their Pac-12 opponents, Shedeur and the Buffaloes rapidly improved in the newly expanded Big 12, going 9-3. CU is ranked No. 20 (No. 23 CFP).

The team went from strugglers to near champions, and Shedeur's strong performances were a massive reason for the improvement.

However, Shedeur Sanders was not the only Colorado Buffalo given a Big 12 award on Thursday. The Buffaloes' dual-position star, Travis Hunter, was named Defensive Player of the Year.

While there has been a lot of attention on Hunter's offensive skills (something that may be used a lot in the NFL next season), he has also been a key part of the defense, recording important tackles and interceptions to keep the team in games.

In 2024, Hunter had 32 tackles, alongside four interceptions and a Big 12-best 11 deflected passes. But his attention is on the most important award in college football. He's the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, and winning that would cap what has been a remarkable season for him and the Colorado Buffaloes.
