Deion Sanders, also known as "Coach Prime," has been the Colorado Buffaloes coach since 2023. He is known for his bombastic personality that can sometimes rub people the wrong way. However, he is also known for being largely beloved by his players.
On Friday, Sanders appeared on the "Tamron Hall Show." When he was welcomed to the show by host Tamron Hall, he came out to a standing ovation from the crowd. Coach Prime admitted that the warm welcome got him a little emotional.
"I'm truly honored, thank you thank you, I'm honored," Sanders said (5:20). "You are gonna make me cry. Y'all are bringing tears to my eyes. You know why because in my position, you give, give, give give.
"When I sit in my office, I wake up at 4:45 a.m. and by the time everyone's arrived, throughout the day there's probably 20 to 30 knocks on the door and everybody wants something.
"So whenever I'm in the position where I'm the recipient, it's so humbling and it's such a blessing. So Tamron, it's touching. I'm used to being in the position of giving not receiving and y'all just blessed me so much, oh."
Coach Prime talks about the impact he has had throughout his career
Throughout the interview with Tamron Hall, Coach Prime discussed his career with the Colorado Buffaloes and the influence he has had on the hiring of other former players like Michael Vick as college coaches. He was then asked by Hall if he expected to have the impact he has had.
"Yes, I don’t want to be brash. At risk of tipping this with arrogance, I expect the best. I don’t expect leftovers," Sanders said (8:00). "I expect the best. I don’t expect to come in second. I expect to come in first.
"I don’t expect to halfway to do nothing. I expect to do it all the way. Everything I’m involved in and even products I endorse, I give it my 100%. I don’t put my name on it unless I stand by it."
Sanders' impact on the Colorado Buffaloes has been undeniable. His influence allowed the Buffaloes to bring in several star players, and not just his son, Shedeur Sanders. It also allowed them to recruit Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. This season, he led the Buffaloes to their first winning season (in a full season) since they went 10-4 under Mike MacIntyre in 2016.
