New York Giants fans have had a challenging year supporting their team. For what was meant to be a season to remember, with this year being the 100th season of Giants football, it has become one that fans will want to forget.
The silver lining from this is that the Giants may be getting a new quarterback after the departure of Daniel Jones and with the team in line for the number one pick of the 2025 NFL draft. However, despite the opportunity to draft either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, some Giants fans want to wait a few years to ensure the team gets a specific player—Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning.
This fan is not buying it and has taken it to YouTube to share his thoughts on the situation:
"You guys are still obsessed with Arch Manning? You're telling me that you would rather not draft Sanders or Ward because you're waiting on Arch. So that means you could be waiting until 2027, or perhaps even longer. "
The Giants are in a poor state right now and need all the chances they have to improve their roster. Getting a quarterback is a top priority, as they do not have a solid quarterback at the moment. Bringing someone new should make a slight difference, but it will not suddenly make the Giants contenders.
The Giants are likely to choose between the Colorado Buffaloes' Sanders and the Miami Hurricanes' Ward for their next quarterback. But for many fans, Manning is the dream. This is partly due to his strong prospects and the fact that he is likely to become an excellent quarterback. However, for Giants fans, there is another layer to it.
The appeal of a Manning to Giants fans
The Manning name will forever be associated with the Giants due to Eli Manning. Eli led the team for over a decade and was instrumental in their two Super Bowl wins over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots with teams that no one said would be able to do it.
To many Giants fans, Eli is the goat and is seen in very high regard. He represents the good times for the team, something that everyone wants to see return.
With Arch, the Giants may see these times return, as he should be able to prove himself to be a strong quarterback with the Longhorns when he is likely to take the starting role next year.
However, the Giants need a quarterback now, not in a few years. If Arch Manning is the goal, then the plan to bring him to the program where his uncle is still heavily involved (producing content for the fans) needs to be put in place now.
