Ashton Jeanty met one of his top fans at Boise State at the program's indoor practice facility. The Heisman Trophy hopeful shared a heartwarming moment with 19-year-old Jacob Serre, who has been an inspiration due to the health challenges he's overcome.
Jacob Serre was born with a rare heart condition. This has seen him go through two heart transplants and he also survived a life-threatening stroke after one of the surgeries. Still battling his way back, Serre was elated to meet his favorite college football player, Ashton Jeanty.
“Jacob, how're you doing?” Jeanty asked as he approached Serre inside the Boise State’s facility. “Nice to meet you… I like your shoes, man. I like the jersey too. You swagged out, man.” (2:10)
Jeanty acknowledged to Jacob Serre how inspirational his journey has been.
"It's been great just to hear your story,” Jeanty said. “Everybody says I'm an inspiration but two heart transplants, that's inspiring. For you to go through that and keep going.” (2:20)
Ashton Jeanty was happy to meet Jacob Serre
Jacob Serre made his way into Boise State’s facility after practice. The Broncos coach, Spencer Danielson, initially approached him before Ashton Jeanty joined. Following their interaction, the running back expressed his excitement at meeting Serre.
“It's always awesome to see everybody who's inspired by what I do, and then just to be able to connect with them on a personal level. Just to be able to talk to them, relate, talk about life. All those things are always awesome. It's heartwarming, always.” (2:37)
Jeanty signed Serre’s jersey, shoes and a couple of other things after their discussion.
Jacob Serre disclosed what he loves about Ashton Jeanty
Before he made his way into the Boise State indoor practice facility, Jacob Serre was asked about the things he loves about Ashton Jeanty.
“I love watching what he does. I feel like he's a great person aside from football. Just giving all the glory and praise to God. Something that I respect a lot. I feel like God has done a lot in our lives, getting us to where we are today.” (1:42)
Serre showed Jeanty a video of his play he captured from the stile while he was a freshman in 2022. This was against Fresno State and the running back disclosed it was his first 100-yard game. He rushed for two touchdowns in the game.
