Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter reignited his race for the coveted Heisman Trophy with a stellar performance in his team's 34-23 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in Week 9. He registered 153 yards on nine receptions resulting in two touchdowns while adding four pass deflections and two tackles.
On Monday, X account "Sole Retriever" posted a video of a hilarious interaction between Colorado coach Deion Sanders and Hunter. In the clip, Coach Prime found Hunter who is fond of his sneakers collection in his office taking a pair of his LeBron Prime sneakers.
"Look, let me get this straight," Deion Sanders said. "What are you doing in my office? You're just gonna come in here and shop dawg."
"I needed some shoes dawg," Hunter said.
"How do you need some shoes?" Sanders asked. "You know you have contracts, money, oh my goodness. Those are vintage. I think they call them Bron Prime or I think they call them Prime Brons. You're lucky I got two pairs. You are roguish, you do know that, right? Do you know what the word roguish means? It means you're a thief."
Deion Sanders continues to champion Travis Hunter
During his postgame news conference, Deion Sanders gave momentum to Hunter's chances (+1800) of winning the Heisman Trophy which is currently being led by Boise State Broncos star running back Ashton Jeanty (+200).
"Now, Travis is the best college football player in the country. We all know that," Sanders said. "Why are we even deliberating over that? What are we doing? Like, when does that change? So what's the criteria? Somebody needs to say what's the criteria of that prestigious award.
"Because we're looking at the best high school football player that — there hasn't been a Travis Hunter ever. Ever. And I'm sitting up here saying that."
Travis Hunter still has four games remaining to make his case as the candidate for the Heisman Trophy race.
